How to Measure the Head Measurements to Choose a Suitable Wig
When buying a wig, generally clients are most afraid of buying a size that is not suitable for their head circumference. Especially for people with small or big heads, it is difficult to buy a wig that suits well.
Usually, wig shops will list three sizes of wigs (small, medium and large) for customers to choose from.
However, these sizes are fixed and may not fit completely after wearing, so if you have higher requirements, you can request for personal customization
Therefore, it is best to measure the size of your head before ordering a wig.So how should we measure the size of our head area? Here's how to do it.
1.Circumference
Measure around the head at the hairline.
Use a tape measure to measure along the hairline. The tape measure should extend from the base of your hairline at your neck to the top of your hairline at the forehead.
- The tape measure should wrap just above the ears on either side of your head.
- Do not pull the tape measure. It should lie flat against flattened hair, but it should not be taut.
2.Forehead to Nape
Measure down the center top of your head.
Place the end of a tape measure at the center of your forehead, matching the end of the tape measure to the beginning of your natural hairline. Drape the tape measure over the crown of your head and down to the middle of the nape, where you natural hairline ends.
- As before, do not pull the tape measure. It should lie flat against flattened hair without being taut.
- Ear to ear across front
Measuring your hairline on your forehead is an important step in how to measure your wig head size.
Place the end of the tape measure over one ear.
Pull the tape up and across the hairline until it reaches the other ear.
4.Ear to ear over top
Measure from one ear to the other. Bring the end of the cloth tape measure to the uppermost point at which your ear connects to the rest of your head. Drape the tape measure over the crown of your head and back down to the same position of the opposite ear.
- The tape measure should rest on both ears along the point at which eyeglasses or sunglasses would sit.
- Once again, the tape measure should lie flat against flattened hair but should not be pulled tight.
5.Temple to temple across the back.
Place end of the tape measure at one temple which next to your eyebrow.Pull it straight back and wrap around the back side of your head until it reaches the other temple.Make sure the tape is level and not slipping up or down.
- Nape of neck
The last measurement is the nape. This is where the bottom of the wig is.
Place the end of the tape measure behind one ear, flush with the bottom of the earlobe.
Pull the tape around the base of your hairline,or the nape, until it reaches below the opposite ear.
Conclusion
Each of these measurements will come in handy when looking at a wig size guide. Similar to buying a piece of clothing, each size represents a different part of the wig. The more accurate these measurements are, the better your wig will be.
